MAYYT works with synthetic diamonds, also known as lab-grown diamonds. It is a conscious choice that we would like to explain to you simply.

What is a synthetic diamond?

A synthetic diamond is a real diamond: it has the same composition (crystallized carbon), the same structure, the same hardness, and the same brilliance as a diamond extracted from the earth. Only its origin differs: it is grown in a laboratory rather than formed in the ground over millions of years. For the sake of transparency, we always use the term "synthetic diamond".

A fairer value

At comparable quality, a synthetic diamond costs significantly less than a natural diamond. You are not paying for geological rarity: your budget goes toward what is seen and worn—the cut of the stone, the gold craftsmanship, and the jewelry's finish.

The freedom of color

Natural colored diamonds (green, yellow, red, blue, pink) are among the rarest and most expensive stones in the world and are most often out of reach. In the laboratory, these colors become accessible. This is what allows us to design bold jewelry, true to our philosophy: the stone comes before the jewelry. We choose the color that speaks to us first, then we design around it.

Generous stones

On our rings with a center stone, the stone exceeds one carat. Each diamond comes with its certificate.

What about the environment?

A synthetic diamond does not require any mining: no open-pit mines, no displaced earth. This is a real advantage. We do not, however, claim that it is without impact: its manufacturing consumes energy, and its footprint depends on the source of that energy. We prefer to tell you this rather than promise you the impossible.

A piece of jewelry, not an investment

Let’s be clear: a synthetic diamond is not an investment. You choose it for its beauty and for what it represents—an achievement, a promise, a memory—not to resell it.
