All MAYYT rings are set with lab-grown diamonds. This is a deliberate choice, not a concession. Here's why.
What is a lab-grown diamond?
A lab-grown diamond is created using technological processes that replicate the natural conditions for diamond formation (extreme heat, pressure). The result is chemically, physically, and optically identical to a diamond extracted from the earth.
The same carbon formula, the same hardness (10 on the Mohs scale), the same refractive index. The same brilliance.
The difference from natural diamonds
The only difference is its history. Natural diamonds took millions of years to form 150 km underground. Lab-grown diamonds are created in a few weeks in a controlled environment.
What changes: extraction. Natural diamond mines have a significant environmental and human impact. Laboratories do not.
Certification
All our diamonds are certified by the IGI (International Gemological Institute) or the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) — the same independent organizations that certify natural diamonds.
Each certificate details the cut, color, clarity, and carat weight of the diamond.
Why MAYYT made this choice
Because MAYYT believes that the value of a piece of jewelry comes from what it represents, not from its extraction process. An IGI-certified lab-grown diamond in an 18-karat gold ParCœur ring is worth as much as the moment it commemorates.
